I am inclined to disagree. Extremists are always looking for the next thing to spout their views and push their agenda.
I simply view it as it truly is; the winter solstice. The dark night of the soul. A time to stop and take time to reflect and embrace. To look towards the light and renewed beginnings.
Reflect on the past year and its blessings as well as the hardships. Because both are periods of growth.
I plan to attend a special yoga class to celebrate the winter solstice with others.
But as I write this I also think of an article I read that said Apaches believe that certain places smoothe your mind and make you wise if you just listen to them.
Is this true for you? Do you have places that smooth your mind?
I have places where I feel more calm or healed. Places that my heart has embraced and in times of hardship yearns for. Where my mind is simply freed from the everyday world for awhile.
My hope is that everyone has as least one such place. That even if you can not get there physically, you can visit mentally & spiritually. A haven.
My wish for all of you, is calm holidays, and prosperous and blessed New Year in which you grow in the ways that are optimal for you, find joy, and embrace life to its fullest.
Namaste
