Several of my friends had gathered the night before to celebrate the solstice. They read solstice themed books and poems, held a candle light circle and yule log ceremony. Exchanged gifts, sang songs, enjoyed a feast that included glogg and hot apple cider. This has become their tradition over the past 5 yrs. How lovely that these women hold space to gather each year at the Winter Solstice. Hopefully the tradition is set for their children so that when they grow up and venture forth exploring their place in this world they will, no matter where they are, take at least a few moments to acknowledge this time of year and what it means.
No matter where each of us are on our journey, I can not help but believe that we all hope for and work towards the greater good of all.
