After swinging as high as I could with chains jumping, hair flying and joy in my heart I wandered through my herb garden smiling at the tiny green shoots emerging under the casually wind strewn autumn leaves. Ah yes, soon the herbs will explode into their full glory and the bees, butterflies and ladybugs will arrive as if my garden is their favorite vacation destination. I caressed and spoke to my butterfly bushes, hugged all of my trees (there are A LOT!). Joy! Pure joy!!
Then............. not soon after, temperatures dropped with snow flurries here and there. The sun still appears every now and again these days trying to lure me out but I know old man winter is not finished. He keeps using my beloved sun to lure me out of doors only to be met with cold air and undesirable temperatures. I say ENOUGH! You have had your run Old Man Winter so let go and say good-bye! I have been a good sport all these past months despite not being a fan of winter. I layered my clothing, shoveled snow, embraced our first "blizzard". I walked and played in the snow many times. I feared the heating bills but kept the complaints to a bare minimum! I must say my behavior towards winter was exemplary this year. But still, winter lingers on like a petulant child.
I am totally ready to put on my boxing gloves and TKO Old Man Winter, but, I know that Mother Nature has a handle on this situation and she will allow our sweet Spring to cajole grumpy winter into taking a rest. Then at last we can all fall under the spell of the sun as the rays caress our faces and warm our hearts.
