He chose to commit to a ready made family one day a long time ago. Me and my two, the Three Musketeers sans swords.
It wasn't an easy decision for either of us.
July 5, 1986, he and I stood in front of family & friends in his parents home exchanging vows, my minis next to us. Combining our naïve love, obvious differences and taking a giant leap towards an unknown future. A couple years later we added two more minis to the mix. Nothing was easy. But....................................................
Despite the pitfalls, hurdles and outright shit storms, the years were interspersed with good times and sunshine.
We trusted in and relied on each other and took life as it came. We navigated life together.
One life event down right broke us. A whole year gone that neither of us can really recall except for main event.
We came through to the other side but only by the grace of God.
The cost and ravishes to the family emerged in the ensuing years.
Now, 2016, here he and I are. Still together, still strong and looking forward, making plans.
We always take the first week of July as our own. Yes we celebrate the 4th along with the whole country. The 5th mostly solo, and the 7th is always dedicated to our son.
